The West-African branch of ICA&D participates in the #ShowYourStripes initiative.
Broadcast meteorologists and climate scientists are uniting on June 21 – the Summer/Winter Solstice – to encourage people around the world to #ShowYourStripes to build awareness of the extent of climate change.
The above Climate Stripes were calculated based on the annual mean temperatures provided by the CRUTS 4.06 dataset which spans the period 1901-2021. These data, based on collected in-situ records, are extracted for the West-African region and aggregated to give one mean annual temperature for the whole region. The Climate Stripes are based on the time series of that record.
